3 things to keep the weight off

Are you struggling to shed those extra pounds that have been weighing you down? Don't worry, we've got some tips straight from the National Weight Control Registry that might help you out! Since 1994, this amazing organization at Brown University has been studying the habits of people who have lost at least 30lbs and kept it off for a year. The results are pretty inspiring, with the average person losing 66lbs and keeping it off for a whopping 5.5 years!

So what did these people do to achieve such incredible success? Well, let's take a look at some of the common things they did that you can implement in your workout journey too!

First off, they weighed themselves at least once a week. In fact, 75% of the participants did this. This helped them stay mindful of their goals and track their progress. After all, if you aren't keeping track, you're going to lose track. So invest in a good scale and make it a habit to weigh yourself regularly.

Next up, they limited their TV time to less than 10 hours a week. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, it turns out that 65% of participants did this. Why? Because limiting TV time reduces sedentary behavior, exposure to temptation of food ads, and improves the quality of sleep, which is all linked to weight loss. So, ditch the remote and pick up some weights instead!

Finally, these successful weight losers were active every single day. That's right, 90% of them made sure to get moving every day. It doesn't have to be an intense workout, just something to get your heart rate up and your body moving. Take a walk, do some yoga, or hit the gym. The important thing is to make movement a daily habit.

So there you have it! Some simple yet effective tips from the National Weight Control Registry to help you lose weight and keep it off. Start weighing yourself regularly, limit your TV time, and make daily movement a priority. Good luck on your fitness journey!
